User Data Deletion Instructions
Last updated 4 August 2026
Purpose
These instructions explain how an individual or an authorised business customer can request deletion
of information processed through the OpenTag Meta Messaging Connector (the “Connector”). The
Connector links Facebook Messenger, Instagram Messaging and WhatsApp Business channels with an
OpenTag-operated, self-hosted Chatwoot environment.
Option 1: Contact the business you messaged
If you communicated with a business through Facebook Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp, contact
that business directly and ask it to delete your conversation or contact record processed through the
OpenTag Meta Messaging Connector and the associated Chatwoot environment. This request is limited
to information received or processed through the Connector and does not request deletion or closure of
a player account, betting history, KYC/AML records, transaction records or other information maintained
in separate systems. The business controls how its customer communications are handled and is
normally best placed to locate and verify the relevant data.
These instructions apply only to information processed through the OpenTag Meta Messaging
Connector. They do not constitute a request to close or delete an account maintained on a separate
platform, nor do they apply to information stored or otherwise processed in other systems outside the
Connector.
Where a conversation or related information has also been recorded in another authorised system, any
request concerning that information must be submitted separately to the business responsible for that
system and will be handled in accordance with its privacy policy and applicable legal and regulatory
obligations.
Certain information may be retained where required by applicable legal or regulatory obligations, or
where necessary for security, fraud prevention, audit purposes or the establishment, exercise or
defence of legal claims.
Option 2: Submit a request to OpenTag
You may submit a deletion request by emailing legal@theopentag.com with the subject line
“Meta Connector Data Deletion Request”. Include enough information to locate the relevant record,
such as:
- Your name and preferred contact email.
The name of the business you contacted. - The relevant Facebook Page, Instagram username or WhatsApp business phone number.
- The approximate date of the conversation.
- The phone number, email address or account identifier used for the conversation, where applicable.
Do not send passwords, access tokens, payment-card details or copies of identity documents unless
OpenTag specifically requests information needed to verify the request. OpenTag may need to confirm
your identity and coordinate with the relevant business customer before deleting information.
Option 3: Disconnect the Connector
An authorised business administrator may revoke the Connector’s permissions through the relevant
Meta business or account settings. Revoking access prevents the Connector from receiving new data
from the disconnected channel. Revocation does not automatically delete information already stored in
Chatwoot or other authorised business systems.
What happens after a request
After a valid request is verified, OpenTag will delete or anonymise information under its control that is
no longer required, and will coordinate with the relevant business customer where necessary. Some
information may be retained where required by law, to establish or defend legal claims, to prevent fraud
or abuse, or to maintain limited security and audit records.
Information held by Meta
These instructions apply to information processed through the OpenTag Connector. Information
retained independently by Meta is governed by Meta’s own privacy policies, account controls and
deletion procedures. OpenTag cannot delete information from systems controlled solely by Meta.
Confirmation and contact
OpenTag will respond to deletion requests within a reasonable period and in accordance with
applicable law. Questions or requests may be sent to legal@theopentag.com
