1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how OpenTag processes information through the OpenTag Meta Messaging Connector (the “Connector”). The Connector enables authorised business customers to connect Facebook Messenger, Instagram Messaging and WhatsApp Business channels to an OpenTag-operated, self-hosted Chatwoot environment for customer-support and business-communication purposes.
2. Information processed
Depending on the channel and the permissions approved by the customer, the Connector may process:
Facebook Page, Instagram Business Account and WhatsApp Business Account identifiers and configuration information.
Messages sent between an authorised business and its customers, including message content, timestamps and delivery status.
Attachments and media shared through supported messaging channels.
Sender and recipient identifiers, names, profile images and other information made available through Meta APIs.
Technical information needed to route, troubleshoot and secure messages, such as message IDs, channel IDs, event logs and API response data.
3. How information is used
OpenTag processes this information only as necessary to provide and operate the Connector, including to:
Authorise and maintain the connection between Meta messaging channels and Chatwoot.
Receive incoming messages and deliver replies sent by authorised business users.
Display and organise conversations in Chatwoot.
Maintain conversation history and related operational records.
Monitor service reliability, investigate errors and protect the Connector against misuse.
OpenTag does not sell information obtained through the Connector and does not use it for independent advertising or unrelated profiling.
4. Legal roles and customer responsibility
The business customer that connects a Meta channel generally determines why and how end-user conversations are handled. That business is responsible for providing any notices required to its customers and for ensuring that its use of the Connector complies with applicable law and Meta policies. OpenTag processes the information to provide the requested integration and related technical services.
5. Storage and retention
Information may be stored in the OpenTag-operated Chatwoot environment and associated infrastructure used to provide the service. Retention depends on the customer’s configuration, contractual requirements, operational needs and applicable legal obligations. Information may be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer required for those purposes.
6. Sharing and service providers
Information may be exchanged with Meta Platforms, Inc. as required for the relevant channel and with infrastructure or service providers that support hosting, security, monitoring and delivery of the Connector. OpenTag does not disclose Connector information to third parties for their own advertising purposes.
7. Security
OpenTag applies reasonable technical and organisational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss. Access to the Connector and Chatwoot environment is limited to authorised personnel and authorised customer users.
8. International processing
Information may be processed in countries other than the country in which the sender is located. Where required, OpenTag and its customers are responsible for using appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
9. Rights and requests
Individuals may contact the business with which they communicated to request access, correction or deletion of conversation information processed through the OpenTag Meta Messaging Connector and the associated Chatwoot environment. Any deletion request described in this policy is limited to information received or processed through the Connector and does not extend to player accounts, betting history, KYC/AML records, transaction records or other information maintained in separate systems. Requests relating specifically to information processed by OpenTag through the Connector may be sent to legal@theopentag.com. OpenTag may need to verify the requester’s identity and coordinate with the relevant business customer before completing a request.
These instructions apply only to information processed through the OpenTag Meta Messaging Connector. They do not constitute a request to close or delete an account maintained on a separate platform, nor do they apply to information stored or otherwise processed in other systems outside the Connector.
Where a conversation or related information has also been recorded in another authorised system, any request concerning that information must be submitted separately to the business responsible for that system and will be handled in accordance with its privacy policy and applicable legal and regulatory obligations.
Certain information may be retained where required by applicable legal or regulatory obligations, or where necessary for security, fraud prevention, audit purposes or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
10. Changes to this policy
OpenTag may update this Privacy Policy when the Connector, applicable requirements or processing practices change. The “Last updated” date shown above identifies the current version.
